Upcycle/United is a special project from Frugal Cool which aims to encourage reuse in home design by creating social opportunities for local upcyclers to share their creative ideas and develop new skills.

Our first event is an Upcyclers Stash Swap on Sunday 27 April 12pm-2pm at Earthy Portobello.

Every maker, crafter and designer I know is a hoarder of “stuff” which might come in useful … one day. Cupboards, drawers, cases and underbed storage boxes are filled with remnants, nic-nacs and charity finds. Many may never be used. The moment has gone, the inspiration lost. Time to swap!

You can bring up to 10 items to swap. Unfinished pots of paint. Fabrics, yarn, buttons and zips. Odd, interesting cups and plates. Framesand lampshades. Old door knobs, keys or watches. You know what I mean.

This is a ticketed event – £5 each – and numbers are limited. You must buy a ticket in advance. There are a few available at Earthy – just ask at the counter – and you can book now at our online shop.

The ticket price includes organic refreshments and tasty bites from Earthy’s fantastic range. The shop will be open, and you’ll also be able to buy coffee and tea. We’ll donate £25 to Breast Cancer Care on behalf of our upcycling guests.

This first event is about meeting new people who simply love to UPCYCLE. I hope you can come.
